Looking for a hen weekend with lots of outdoor activities in stunning scenery? The Peak District, Derbyshire, is the place to go. Famous for being England’s oldest National Park, full of walks, hikes, trails and hen-friendly market towns, a Peak District hen do offers plenty of things to do and see.

At HenQueens, we’ve organised hundreds of hen parties in the Peak District and have luxury accommodation all over the region. What’s more, we’ve pulled together a list of things to do so you can start planning the ultimate celebration.

1. Get wet!

It may be a hen party but no, that’s not what we meant! We mean go wild swimming, ghyll scrambling, or even sit back in your very own private hot tub and swimming pool. You see, this region is home to some great places to go ghyll scrambling, which involves jumping in natural pools of water and scrambling up waterfalls. It’s refreshing and exhilarating – and just what you need if you’ve taken it too far with the prosecco the night before.

Wild swimming also offers another breath of fresh air (and a blast of cold water!) – suitable for outdoor lovers and those who just want to immerse themselves in nature for the weekend. And, when you’re done with all the wet water activities, but you’ve still not had enough of the outdoors and the stunning views the Peak District has to offer, you can return to your HenQueens house and sit outside by the fire pit to warm up (and pretend you’re on Love Island!). But be warned, when you see our accommodation selection, you’re likely to book it…

2. Get the adrenaline going

If you’re an adrenaline junkie, then you’ll be pleased to know there’s a range of activities on offer – from Tree Top adventures to Body Zorbing. You’re bound to have a giggle and get your heart-rate going. Climb, swing, scramble and scream as you explore the Peak District National Park from the safety of your harness. You’ll also have the chance to use the high-speed zip wires and fall from one of the biggest Tarzan Swing drops whilst taking in the stunning views of the park. But, if the cocktails the night before have left you queasy at the thought of jumping, falling and leaping, then rest assured there’s lots of nearby tea rooms to keep you safe.

If you’re an outdoor-activity-adrenaline-lover but don’t fancy heights, then consider one of our activities such as axe throwing or body zorbing. Both will leave you with lots to chat about afterwards and are great at getting rid of any pre-wedding nerves.

3. Get creative

When you’ve cleared your mind with endless walks in the rolling hills of the Peak District, you can get creative with a cooking lesson, beer brewing session or a food foraging course. If you’d rather not leave the house for your delicious activity, (and let’s face it, you’ll be pretty tired if you’ve been out exploring all the outdoor activities the Peak District has to offer!) you can have a cooking lesson come to you – or even a private chef experience. Sit back for the evening, keep your glasses topped up and be prepared to be wined and dined by an expert as you live life the boujee way, for at least one night only.

4. Make cocktails

The classic one, and it can even be turned into mocktails if some of your hens prefer softer options. You can do it at a local cocktail bar – Monk in Buxton has been rated as a great place to visit and offers an extensive range of cocktails. Or, you can do it round the fire pit at your very own hen party house

What’s more, we even have your very own country pub to rent out! The Village Inn Hen House has its own bar and games room. You’ll literally feel like you’re at the pub, but won’t have to deal with stumbling home. What a result!

If you’re wanting an even bigger night on your hen do in the Peak District, but your legs really are exhausted from all the walking and you just can’t make it to the city centre nightclubs, then why not have the nightclub come to you. You can organise for international DJ Liv (she’s played at the likes of Pikes Ibiza and Miami beach) to set up in your holiday cottage for your own evening of drunken dancing and music.

5. Get your inner zen on

After you’ve exhausted yourself with drinks and hen party games and you really need to recharge your mind, there’s a range of things you can do in the Peak District. From immersing yourself in nature whilst you walk off your hangover, to organising a yoga instructor to come to you (we can do that for you, check it out here – and, this house is PERFECT for doing yoga in the grounds).

Or, if the thought of doing downward dog is making you queasy – get yourself a facial booked in. The sins of the weekend will be detoxed from your skin in no time!
